COVID-19: India registers 5,784 new cases, active cases lowest in 563 days

New Delhi: India reported 5,784 new COVID-19 cases and 252 related deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally of deceased to 47,5888 in the country according to the Union Health Ministry’s data on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the number of COVID-19 active cases have declined to 88,993 the lowest in 563 days, Which presently constituted 0.26 percent, lowest since March 2020, Ministry’s data said.
The recovery rate touched 98. 37 per cent as 7,995 patients recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative tally of recovered patients to 3,41,38,763.
“The daily positivity rate is 0.58 per cent, which is less than 2 per cent for the last 71 days, whereas the weekly positivity rate is 0.68 per cent which also remains less than 1 per cent for the last 30 days now,” the Ministry reported.
The testing capacity across the country continues to be expanded. India has so far conducted over 65.76 Crore tests across the country.
With the administration of 66,98,601 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 133.88 Crore the Ministry said.
“More than 140.38 crore vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through direct state procurement category.
More than 17.06 Cr balance and unutilized COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs,” said the Ministry. (UNI)
