Active COVID cases fell below 10K mark after 60 days

New Delhi:India witnessed a major dip in number of Covid-19 cases reported in a day after almost two months, as a total of 8,813 people tested positive for coronavirus, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday.
The last time, there were just above 8,000 cases was on June 10 when 8,329 infections were added in a day, while it touched a high of 40,817 on July 29, in between.
According to the bulletin issued by the Union Health Ministry, the total caseload rose to 4,42,77,165 while the overall toll touched 5,27,069 as 29 more succumbed to the disease.
A total of 15,040 people recovered from the disease, taking the tally to 4,36,38,844. The recovery rate stands at 98.56 per cent.
The active caseload stands at 1,11,252, the figures showed.As per the bulletin, 88.06 crore tests for Covid-19 have been done so far.
India has administered 208.31 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive.(UNI)
