Active covid cases raised above 10 K, Casualties too above 100 in past 24 hrs

New Delhi: India on Saturday recorded 12,143 new cases of COVID-19 during the past 24 hours, pushing the country's caseload to 1,08,92,746, while the death toll mounted to 1,55,550 with 103 more fatalities.
According to the Union Health Ministry, the active cases rose by 645 to stand at 1,36,571. It is 1.25 per cent of the total caseload. The distribution of new cases in India in the last 24 hours shows a positive picture with only one state reporting over 1000 cases. Two states/UTs have not reported any new case in the last 24 hours.
 
Of the fresh fatalities, 36 were from Maharashtra, 18 from Kerala and 8 each from Punjab and Karnataka, 7 from Chhattisgarh and 6 from Tamil Nadu.
 
The past 24 hours saw 11,395 people recovering from the deadly virus, taking the total recovery count to 1,06,00,625, which is 97.32 per cent of the case tally. The fatality rate stood at 1.43 per cent. Kerala has reported the maximum number of single day recoveries with 5,332 newly recovered cases while 2422 recovered in Maharashtra in the past 24 hours.
 
According to Health Ministry, 17 States/UTs have not reported any death in the last 24 hours.
As per the Indian Council of Medical Research(ICMR), 7,43,614 samples were tested on Friday, taking the total number of tests carried out by the body till date to 20,55,33,398.(UNI)
