COVID-19: India logs 1.7 lakh cases, 865 deaths in last 24 hrs

New Delhi: India has recorded 1.07 lakh fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, while the daily positivity rate stood at 7.42 percent in the country, as per the Health Ministry data on Sunday.
As many as 865 fresh fatalities were also recorded in the past 24 hours, taking the total death count in the country, as a result of coronavirus, to 50, 1979.
The active cases stands at 12,25,011 which now comprise 2.90 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has decreased to 95. 91 per cent.
Meanwhile 2,13,246 recoveries were reported in the last 24 hours, increasing the total recoveries to4,04,61,148. On the vaccination front, the government has been continuously speeding up the vaccination drive across the country.
According to the bulletin issued by the Ministry on Sunday 74.01 Crore tests for Covid-19 have been done so far. In the last 24 hours, a total of 14,48,513 tests have been conducted.
“India has administered 169.46 Cr doses of Covid-19 vaccine so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive” Ministry data said.
More than 167. 47 crores vaccine doses were provided to States/UTs so far. Over 11.83 the crores balance and unutilized Covid vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered, the ministry said.
Meanwhile, Delhi continues to witness a decline in Covid-19 cases as on Saturday the city reported 1604 news covid-19 cases and 17 deaths.
The positivity rate also saw a declining trend as it stood at 2.87 and the total active cases in the city were 9,9969, as per the Health Ministry data. (UNI)
