COVID-19: India logs 2,71,202 new cases, 314 deaths in last 24 hrs

New Delhi: India recorded 2,71,202 new Covid cases during the past 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said on Sunday.

According to the bulletin issued by the Ministry, the total caseload rose to 3,71,22,164, while the death toll rose to 4,86,066 as 314 succumbed to the virus.

On a positive note, 1,38,331 more people have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally to 3,50,85,721. The recovery rate stands at 94.51 per cent.

The active caseload currently stands at 15,50,377, the figures showed.

As per the bulletin, a total of 7,743 cases of new variant of Covid-19 Omicron have been detected so far in the country.

The Ministry further said, 70.24 crore tests for Covid-19 have been done so far.

India has administered 156.76 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive. (UNI)
