COVID-19: India logs 796 cases, 19 deaths in last 24 hrs

New Delhi: Continuing its trend of less than 1,000 cases over the past few days, India on Tuesday logged 796 fresh Covid-19 cases as the Union Health Ministry data showed 19 new deaths.
Same day last year there were 1,61,736 fresh cases as India was on the threshold of the second wave, while in 2020, on April 12, barely four months after the pandemic raised its head in the country there were 759 cases.
According to the bulletin issued by the Ministry, the total caseload has risen to 4,30,36,928 while the overall toll stand at 5,21,710 due to the coronavirus.
On the other hand, 946 more people recuperated from the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally to 4,25,04,329.
The recovery rate stands at 98.76 per cent. The active caseload stands at 10,889, the government figures showed.
As per the bulletin, 79.45 crore tests for Covid-19 have been done so far.
India has administered 185.90 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine till date. (UNI)
