COVID-19: India records 9,436 new cases in last 24 hours, active caseload at 86,591

New Delhi: India recorded 9,436 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of active cases to 86,591, according to Union Health Ministry data issued on Sunday.
As many as 30 fresh fatalities were also recorded in the last 24 hours, taking the total death count in the country, as a result of coronavirus, to 527754.
Meanwhile, 9,999 recoveries were reported in the last 24 hours, increasing the total recoveries to 4,37,93,787 whereas the national COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 98.62 percent.
On the vaccination front, the government has been continuously speeding up the vaccination drive across the country.
According to the bulletin issued by the Ministry on Sunday, 88.50 cr tests for Covid-19 have been done so far. In the last 24 hours, a total of 3,22,551 tests have been conducted.
“India has administered 211.66 cr doses of Covid-19 vaccine (94.18 cr Second Dose and 15.20 cr Precaution Dose ), so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive,” Ministry data said.
More than 201.21 crores of vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far. Over 6.29 Cr balance and unutilized Covid vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered, the ministry said. (UNI)
