COVID-19: India registers 13,508 new cases, 164 deaths in 24 hours

New Delhi: India has registered 13,508 Covid-19 cases in past 24 hours, lowest case in 231 days, while the number of deaths climbed to 4,52454 with 164 more fatalities, according to the Union Health Ministry's data on Tuesday.
The Ministry said, the recovery rate has touched 98.14 per cent as 19,470 people have recovered in past 24 hours, taking the cumulative tally of recovered patients to 3,34,58,801.
They said, “The active caseload falls below 2 lakh-mark and is presently at 1,83,118, which is lowest in 227 days. Active cases presently constitute 0.54 per cent of the country's total positive cases.
“The daily positivity rate is 1.11 per cent, which is less than 3 per cent for last 50 days, whereas weekly positivity rate is 1.36 per cent, which also remains less than 3 per cent for the last 116 days now,” the Ministry reported.
The testing capacity across the country continues to be expanded. The last 24 hours a total of 11,81,314 tests being conducted. India has so far conducted over 59.31 Crore.
In past 24 hours, India administered 87,41,160 vaccine doses as the coverage exceeded 98.67 crore landmark as per provisional reports till 7 am on Monday,” the Ministry said.
The data suggested that, more than 102 crore vaccine doses have been provided to states/Union Territories so far through direct state procurement.
“More than 10.42 crore balance and unutilised Covid-19 vaccine doses are still available with the states/UTs to be administered,” the data said. (UNI)
