COVID-19: India reports 2.64 lakh new cases in last 24 hrs, Omicron tally reaches 5,753

New Delhi: India registered 2,64,202 new Covid-19 cases, a jump of 6.7 percent since Thursday, , the Health Ministry informed on Friday.

The active cases comprise 3.48 per cent of the total infections, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate has decreased to 95.20 per cent.

A total 315 deaths have been reported during the same period, taking the total count to 4,85,350.

The active caseload currently stands at 12,72,073 while 1,09,345 people have recovered taking the total numbers of recoveries to 3,48,24,706.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 14.78 per cent while the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 11.83 per cent.

Meanwhile, India's Omicron tally on Thursday reached 5,753, an increase of 4.83 per cent since Thursday

Delhi on Thursday reported 28,867 fresh Covid cases and 31 deaths thus making a positivity rate of 29.21 per cent in the city.

There are currently 94,160 active cases in the city, of whom 2,424 persons are admitted to hospitals.

Earlier the Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said that the hospital admission rate for Covid-19 has stabilised, indicating that coronavirus cases may go down soon.

“India has administered 155.39 doses of Covid-19 vaccine so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive” Ministry data said.

More than 157.50 crores vaccine doses were provided to States/UTs so far.

Over 15.17 crores balance and unutilized Covid vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered, the ministry said. (UNI)
