Active cases of nCOV touches 62K mark in past 24 hours, 291 succumbs

New Delhi: India on Saturday registered a record 62,258 new cases of COVID-19 during the past 24 hours, pushing the country caseload to 1,12,95023.
The country witnessed 291 deaths, mounting the death toll to 1,60,949, as per the Union health ministry update on Saturday morning.The active cases rose by 30,386 to stand at 4,52,647. It is now 3.80 per cent of the total caseload.
 
The past 24 hours saw 32,987 people recovering from the deadly virus, taking the total recovery count to 1,12,95,023, which is 94.85 per cent of the case tally. The fatality rate stood at 1.35 per cent.
 
Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that a total of 23,97,69,553 samples have been tested so far for coronavirus. Out of this, 11,64,915 were tested in the past one day.
 
On the vaccination front, a total of 5,81,09,773 vaccine doses have been administered, with 26,05,333 vaccinated in the last 24 hours.(UNI)
