India's COVID-19 tally shoots past 1.6 lakh after tallest ever single day spike of infections

New Delhi: With the highest ever jump of infections in a day, India's COVID-19 tally reached 1,65,799  on Friday morning.
According to the Health Ministry, 7476 fresh cases were reported since Thursday across the country.
 
Talking of fatalities, 175 more people have succumbed to the infection, taking the death count to 4706.
 
Meanwhile, cases under active medical supervision are heading closer to 90,000 as the figure now stands at 89987.
 
On a positive note, the recovery front has witnessed an improvement with the total cured and discharged patients touching 71,106 figure, after 3,414 more survivors were added to the list.(UNI)
