A shocking case from Mumbai has left everyone stunned. A married woman stole jewellery worth 10 lakh from her own house as part of a plan to run away with her lover.
The case took place in BMC Colony, Santosh Nagar, Goregaon East. The accused woman has been identified as Urmila Ramesh Haladdiwe, the wife of Ramesh Dhondu Haladdiwe, who works as an employee in the Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
How the Conspiracy Was Hatched
According to police, Urmila had developed a relationship with a man she met through social media. She regularly spoke to him when her husband was away at work. Gradually, the two decided to run away together.
During the investigation, it also came to light that Urmila had grown close to her 18-year-old daughter's boyfriend as well. She reportedly gave some of the stolen jewellery to him for safekeeping.
How Police Cracked the Case
According to Senior Inspector Mahendra Shinde, Urmila lodged a theft complaint at Dindoshi Police Station. Suspicious of the case, police began checking the mobile call details of all family members.
The police soon discovered that there was no forced entry into the house and suspected someone from the family itself. Call records showed Urmila was in constant contact with both her lover and her daughter's boyfriend.
When the daughter's boyfriend was questioned, he revealed the truth. Later, during interrogation, Urmila admitted that she planned to leave her husband and escape with her lover. She confessed to selling some of the stolen jewellery and transferring the money to her lover's account.
Based on her statement, police recovered the ornaments from a jewellery shop. Urmila has since been arrested and sent to judicial custody, while the search for her lover is still underway.
The incident has quickly gone viral on social media and sparked widespread discussion, with many shocked at the mix of family betrayal, love affairs, and crime involved in the case.
