Maharashtra records 1,881 Covid cases in past 24 hrs, highest in recent days

Aurangabad/Mumbai: Maharashtra recorded 1,881 new Covid-19 cases, highest in recent days, with no death in past 24 hours, the health bulletin said on Wednesday.
With new cases, the state’s cumulative case tally has surged to 78,96,114 and the death toll stands at 1,47,866.
Meanwhile, 878 recovered patients were discharged across the state, taking overall count of recoveries to 77,39,816.
The state's recovery rate significantly came down to 98.02 per cent and fatality rate is at 1.87 per cent.
There are 8432 active patients undergoing treatment in different hospitals, the bulletin added.
It is a matter of great concern that the number of Covid patients has been increasing again in Maharashtra for the last few days. Therefore, we all need to follow the guidelines issued by the government, said Maharashtra Medical Education & Cultural Affairs Minister Amit Deshmukh.
Meanwhile, no new Covid case was reported across in the eight districts of Marathwada region of state, the bulletin further added.
On the backdrop of rising cases across the state, Deshmukh said that government medical colleges in the state need to be vigilant as the number of Covid patients is increasing in the state.
A meeting, in this regard, was held at the ministry on Tuesday. Secretary of Medical Education and Medicines Saurabh Vijay, Medical Education Commissioner Virendra Singh, Director of Medical Education Dr Dilip Mhaisekar, Joint Secretary of the Department Shivaji Patankar and Deputy Secretary Prakash Survase were present during the meeting.
