Trump's new travel bans allow for several exceptions, according to US officials who spoke to broadcaster CBS News.
Among the exceptions, the proclamation also explicitly names athletes or members of athletic teams, including coaches and support staff, and athletes traveling for the World Cup, Olympics or other sporting events, CBS reports.
The United States, along with Canada and Mexico, is set to host the FIFA football World Cup in 2026.
While most of the teams haven't qualified yet, Iran — named on today's travel ban list — has already secured a place at the 2026 tournament.
Sudan's national soccer team is also at the top of its group for the qualifiers, meaning it may also play at the World Cup.
But the full restrictions on nationals from Iran and Sudan entering the US may make it impossible for their fans to cheer on their teams if scheduled to play in the United States.
