Chariots construction process for Puri Rath yatra begins

Puri: Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has initiated the process for construction of three chariots for July 1 annual Rath Yatra of lord Jagannath his elder brother Balabhadra and devi Subhadra
According to temple sources a three member team will embark on the mission to collect the required specific species and number of timber logs from Nayagarh forest range.
On Tuesday the team carrying holy Mahaprasad, shriphal and other puja items from Srimandir will go to Badmula village under the Nayagarh district.
A puja and homa will be performed at the goddess Badaraula deity temple before beginning the cutting process and collection of timber from the forest.
According to Sudarshan Mekap, the supervisor of chariot construction, a total 806 timber logs of “Phasi, Asan and Dhaura” are used for construction of the three chariots. (UNI)
