London: Queen Camila, the wife of King Charles III of Britain, has called off a number of engagements as she is ailing from a chest infection, Buckingham Palace announced Tuesday.

The queen consort, 77, the second wife of King Charles, has been advised by doctors to take rest for a short period.

A palace spokesperson stated that the queen is not doing well and currently under medical supervision, but is hopeful of recovering in time for this weekend’s annual Remembrance Day ceremonies.

“Her Majesty The Queen is currently unwell with a chest infection, for which her doctors have advised a short period of rest,” the spokesperson said in a statement.

“With great regret, Her Majesty has therefore had to withdraw from her engagements for this week, but she very much hopes to be recovered in time to attend this weekend’s Remembrance events as normal. She apologises to all those who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result," the statement said.

She will miss this year's Field of Remembrance event at London's Westminster Abbey on Thursday. The Duchess of Gloucester will be representing the queen.

While returning from the royal tour of Australia and Samoa, the 75-year-old monarch and his wife made a private stopover in India on October 30 for visiting a health spa in Bangalore.
