A 24-hour day-night cycle is divided into eight parts: four praharas for the day, and four for the night. The transition period between two prahars is known as Sandhi Kaal. The evening Sandhi Kaal - the moment when day transitions into night – is considered highly auspicious. According to ancient scriptures and Vastu beliefs, performing certain spiritual and cleansing rituals during this sacred time can invite Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of wealth and prosperity, into your home.
Perform these 5 rituals every evening during Sandhi Kaal and it is believed that Goddess Lakshmi herself will bless your home.
1. Light a Lamp at the Threshold
In the evening, light a small earthen lamp (diya) and place it at the threshold of the main door of your house. It is said that Goddess Lakshmi never enters a home where the entrance is dark. Lighting the threshold creates a path of light that welcomes her presence.
2. Do a Kapur (Camphor) Aarti
Between 7:15 PM and 7:30 PM, perform puja followed by kapur aarti. You may also light kapur (Camphor) and move it through all rooms of your house. This will cleanse the negative energy and create a divine atmosphere for Goddess Lakshmi to enter and stay in your home.
3. Worship the Tulsi Plant
As soon as stars start appearing after sunset, offer prayers to the Tulsi plant and light a ghee lamp near it. Homes where Tulsi is worshipped daily are believed to be constantly blessed by Goddess Lakshmi. This daily evening ritual will bring happiness and financial stability.
4. Play Bhajans
During Sandhi Kaal, play peaceful bhajans or devotional songs in praise of any God. The soothing vibrations of bhajans not only uplift the energy of the home, but also create a divine atmosphere that attracts Goddess Lakshmi.
5. Chant Mantras
If you're unable to perform the above four rituals, you can still attract divine grace of Goddess Lakshmi by chanting at least 5 malas (rosaries) of mantras. Mantra chanting calms the mind, removes obstacles, and open the door to prosperity.
