Mumbai: Mumbai Police said on Wednesday that its Cyber Crime Cell has arrested three people including a woman for uploading photographs of several women from a religious community with the comment "available for booking".
Addressing the media here, Police Commissioner Hemant Nagarale said the App was uploaded on December 31 and a complaint was registered with the Cyber Crime Cell the very next day.
Investigation showed that a Vishal Kumar was involved and he was nabbed from Bengaluru.
On Tuesday, on his information, the police arrested the mastermind, Shweta Singh from Uttarakhand.
A third suspect from Uttarakhand was being brought to Mumbai, he added.
Both Vishal and Shweta Singh were remanded for five days in police custody, Nagarale said.
He said the victims of the App included a number of women of a particular religion including journalists, social workers, students and famous personalities. They were marked "available for booking".
The Commissioner refused to divulge further details saying it could hamper the investigation. (UNI)
