50 Yrs of 1971 Indo-Pak war victory: Swarnim Vijay Victory flame reaches frozen frontiers of Siachen glacier

Leh: Swarnim Vijay Victory Flame, commemorating 50 years of the Indian Armed Forces' victory over Pakistan in the 1971 Indo-Pak war, reached the frozen frontiers of Siachen Glacier on Tuesday.
Defence Ministry spokesperson Colonel Emron Musavi said that the victory flame was received with full Military honors at Bana Post, located at a height of 22000 ft on the Siachen Glacier.
'Bana Post was captured by Indian Army in 1987 in an unparalleled daring operation,' he said.
He said Honorary Capt Bana Singh was awarded the Param Vir Chakra, the highest military award for gallantry for this operation.
From Bana Post, the Swarnim Vijay Mashaal (Victory flame) was taken to Indira Col, the Northern most point of the Siachen Glacier where Army troops received it with enthusiasm and reiterated their pledge towards defence of the country. (UNI)
