Lucknow: Taking serious note on Muslim women agitation on ‘triple talaq’, All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has decided to discuss about ‘model Nikahnama’ (marriage certificate) in a three- day meeting in Hyderabad starting from February 9.
Muslim women were protesting against ‘triple talaq’ for long time and Apex court has also ordered to eliminate the oppressive custom. A bill regarding ‘triple talaq’ was passed in Lok Sabha but it was rejected by Rajya Sabha. Now AIMPLB has decided to make provisions to check the irregularities in the implication of long tradition.
Maulana Kalbe Jawad Naqvi, member of AIMPLB, told UNI that the model Nikahnama will be discussed in meeting scheduled on February 9, 10 and 11. He said that it may be proposed that groom has to give written assurance in Nikahnama that he will not utter ‘triple talaq’ at once. (UNI)
