Amit Shah chairs all-party meeting to review Covid situation in Delhi

New Delhi:Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday chaired an all-party meeting to review the management of Covid-19 situation the National Capital.All the leaders agreed to work in tandem to fight the pandemic in the capital.
Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta, who came out after a meeting that lasted about an hour-and-a half in South Block, said that all the leaders involved in the meeting agreed to work together to make Delhi Corona free.
 
Talking to reporters, Mr Gupta said the Home Minister told the leaders that by June 20, the Delhi government will start 18,000 testings of Covid-19 daily.
 
"Mr Shah said there would be door-to-door corona checks in the containment zones. There are 242 containment zones in Delhi," the Delhi BJP chief said.
 
"The BJP has demanded that 50 per cent charges should be waived off on Covid-19 testing, and it has been approved by Union Home Minister Amit Shah," Mr Gupta said.
 
"BJP suggested that charges at private hospitals should be fixed. Taking cognisance of the matter, the Home Minister has constituted a committee which will submit a report within two days. Based on the report, price capping will be done for private hospitals," he said.
 
Mr Shah had called for this meeting on Sunday in view of the city's deteriorating COVID-19 situation.Political parties based in the National Capital including Congress, BJP, AAP and also the BSP's Delhi unit attended the event.
 
Apart from the political representatives,  the Health Secretary of Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Delhi Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary, Health of the Delhi Government were present in the meeting.
 
The city has been continuously witnessing sharp spikes in the infections over the past two weeks after the Centre relaxed norms and  began with the unlocking.
 
Meanwhile, Mr Shah on Sunday held a review meeting with the Delhi L-G and CM Arvind Kejriwal along with Disaster Management Authority officials and AIIMS chief to discuss the COVID status here and ways to manage the situation effectively as it was deteriorating with cases rising rapidly.(UNI)
