Kolkata: Calcutta High Court on Thursday deferred hearing on a plea filed by Central Bureau of Investigation against the bail granted to three prominent leaders of the ruling Trinamool Congress and a former mayor of Kolkata arrested in the Narada sting tape case citing “ due unavoidable circumstances.”.
“Due to unavoidable circumstances, the First Division Bench will not assemble today," a notice in the Calcutta High Court website said today.A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal and Justice Arijeet Banerjee is hearing an application by the CBI to reconsider the bail to the TMC leadersand the former city mayor granted by a lower court on Monday.
The high court on Monday night stayed the lower court’s decision to grant bail to the state ministers Subrata Mukherjee and Firhad Hakim, Trinamool Congress MLA Madan Mitra and former mayor of Kolkata Sovan Chatterjee, arrested and charge-sheeted by the CBI in the Narada sting case
