New Delhi: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) on Friday slammed China over reports that it had renamed some places in Arunachal Pradesh and termed it an act of "mischief".
"The Union out rightly rejects the purported renaming of places in Arunachal Pradesh reportedly by China and terms it as an act of mischief. The act does not have any takers in the ground and has no 'consonant' with the feelings of the patriotic people of Arunachal," AAPSU General Secretary Tobom Dai said.
He said Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India and no power on the earth can alter it. "We are very much an integral part of India, we are Indians," he told UNI over phone.
He asked the Centre to give more importance to Arunachal Pradesh to further strengthening the infrastructure in the state, including in border areas.
On Thursday, the External Affairs Ministry said: "This is not the first time China has attempted such a renaming of places. Arunachal Pradesh has always been and always be an integral part of India. Assigning invented names to places in Arunachal Pradesh does not alter this fact."
Arunachal Pradesh shares a boundary of 1,080 km with China. (UNI)
