The latest development came after Bihar Chief Minister and senior JDU leader Nitish Kumar, Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar and RJD leader Tejaswi Yadav met Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge here. Former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi was also present.
“Today, a historic meeting was held. We discussed many issues. We all have decided to unite all the parties to fight the elections unitedly. We will work together in this direction,” Kharge told reporters shortly after the meeting.
Kumar, who has been attacking the BJP since he snapped ties with the saffron party in Bihar said, “We have decided to work together to unite maximum parties. All those who will agree, we will sit together later (to deliberate on to take on BJP).”
The former Congress president, “A historic step has been taken to unite the Opposition. This is a process. We will collectively work on the vision of the Opposition for the country.”
Attacking the BJP, Rahul said, “There is an ideological fight in the country. Institutions are being attacked. We will unite and fight (against BJP). This is an important step in this direction.” (UNI)
