Convict in Rajiv Gandhi assassination case back in Jail

Chennai: A G Perarivalan, one of the life convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, was today escorted back to Vellore Central Prison after the expiry of his two month parole period (ordinary leave).
He was released on parole for 30 days on August 24 for the first time since his arrest in mid-1991, to meet his ailing father.After it ended on September 24 last month, his mother Arputhammal petitioned the Tamil Nadu government seeking extension of parole by another month as he has to be with his ailing father, who was undergoing treatment.
The government favourably considered the request and extended it by one month.After the ordinary leave period ended today, he was escorted back to the Vellore prison from his house at Jolarpet near Vellore.
