New Delhi: MPs belonging to the Trinamool Congress on Thursday staged a protest near India Gate over the hologram statue of Subhash Chandra Bose being turned off, days after being installed.

The MPs staged a protest at the site where the Amar Jawan Jyoti used to be, and was replaced by a hologram statue of the freedom fighter. The protestors held placards with slogans like "Don't blackout Netaji", "Let there be light", "Why has Netaji been kept in dark".

Raising the issue in the Lok Sabha on Thursday evening, AITC MP Saugata Roy said, "I went to India Gate to see the hologram statue of Netaji. We saw there is no hologram statue. This govt put his hologram statue only for a day."

The government had said that a grand statue of Bose will be installed under the cupola.

Culture Ministry officials had earlier said that wind had knocked down the equipment projecting the hologram in the canopy, leading to a disruption. (UNI)
