New Delhi: The new idol of Lord Ram was seated on its aasan (place) amidst chanting of mantra in the grand and divine Lord Ram temple being built at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya as a part of the ongoing ritual before consecration ceremony on January 22.
Covered with a veil, the first photo of the idol is going viral on the social media.
The 51-inch statue, carved by sculptor Arun Yogiraj, depicts Lord Ram as a five-year-old child in a standing posture. It is black in color and weighs two tonnes.

According to the programme set by Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, rituals were performed by chanting mantras to Lord Ram's idol in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. The rituals will continue till January 21.
