Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has joined the latest social media trend of generating images in the Studio Ghibli style.

The online media is currently flooded with photographs recreating film stills, memes, and moments, in the signature Ghibli-style by using OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

OpenAI’s new 40-image generator just requires a few prompts to generate the desired images. Since the trend started gaining momentum, several users generated a flurry of images resembling the animation studio’s style of art. From iconic memes, shots of famous films, and photos of themselves, to other historic moments, a Ghibli version of everything is floating on the internet.

Appreciating the technological advancement, Fadnavis generated a picture of himself with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Ghibli style. Sharing the original and the generated image on social media, he wrote, “That’s my #ghibli style entry. Technology just doesn’t stop surprising us pleasantly! @narendramodi @fadnavis_amruta.”

Studio Ghibli is an animation house based in Japan credited with several iconic films. Some of the banner’s most popular titles include ‘Spirited Away,’ ‘Howl’s Moving Castle,’ ‘Princess Mononoke,’ and ‘The Boy and the Heron’ among others. Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata, and Toshio Suzuki founded the studio in 1985. The primary artistic style of the studio’s stunning animated works is made by hand. It features soft lines, pastel and muted colours, and intricately designed landscapes.

Since the trend started going viral, several noted personalities started generating images. Moreover, OpenAI’s CEO also created a Ghibli-style image of himself for his X (formerly Twitter) profile.
