Mumbai: The city police have heightened security following a social media post warning of possible Hindu-Muslim riots, arson and bomb blasts in minority-dominated area Dongri in south Mumbai during Ramzan Eid festival, sources said on Friday.
The post, which surfaced on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), alleged that illegal Rohingya, Bangladeshi and Pakistani infiltrators might be involved in inciting violence.
The post, tagging the Navi Mumbai Police's official X account, wrote: "Mumbai Police should remain vigilant. During Eid on March 31–April 1, 2025, some illegal Rohingya / Bangladeshi / Pakistani infiltrators residing in areas like Dongri may incite Hindu-Muslim riots, arson, and bomb blasts!."
Upon receiving the alert, Navi Mumbai Police immediately informed the Mumbai Police control room. In response, Mumbai Police increased patrolling in Dongri and conducted a thorough search operation. However, no suspicious activities were detected.
Meanwhile, the Cyber Cell has launched an investigation to trace the individual who posted the message, using advanced digital tracking techniques.
The Mumbai Police have reassured citizens that strict security measures are in place to prevent any untoward incidents.
