Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde wins trust vote

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Monday won the floor test in the Assembly with 164 votes that is 20 above the majority marker.
Speaker Rahul Narvekar declared Shinde and BJP government winners of the trust vote.
BJP's senior leader Sudhir Mungantiwar put the motion of confidence before the House which was endorsed by Bharat Gogawale.
After the voice vote process, the opposition demanded division of votes which was conducted with head count.
After the division of votes, it was clear 164 MLAs voted in favour of the Shinde government while 99 votes went against the government.
Two MLAs of Samajwadi Party including Abu Azmi and AIMIM's lone MLA who were present in the house abstained.
While five Congress MLAs, including former minister Ashok Chavan, Vijay Wadettiwar were absent from the House at the time of voting. (UNI)
