Kolhapur: The District and Sessions court here on Monday sentenced a man to rigorous imprisonment for 20 years for raping his own minor daughter in Lakshyatirth Vasahat, a suburb of the city, on January 10, 2020.
According to Public Prosecutor Ms Manjusha Patil, the 44-year-old accused, an alcoholic, raped his own eight-year-old daughter at his house in Lakshyatirth Vasahat area of the city on the night of January 10, 2020, when no other family member was present in the house.
When the girl's mother returned home, the victim narrated entire incident to her mother, who immediately lodged a police complaint against her husband.
After examining total nine witnesses, Sessions Judge Ms K B Agrawal found accused father guilty under section 4 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and awarded the sentence, Ms Patil added.
