Mumbai: Maharashtra is set to introduce basic military training for students beginning from Class 1, State School Education Minister Dada Bhuse announced on Tuesday.
According to government sources, the initiative aims to cultivate patriotism, discipline, and a culture of physical fitness among young learners.
Minister Bhuse stated that retired soldiers would play a key role in delivering training, alongside sports teachers, members of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), and Scouts and Guides. “This decision is intended to nurture love for the country and instill habits of regular exercises and discipline, which will benefit students throughout their lives,” he said.
The proposal has received an encouraging response from Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. To ensure effective implementation, the state plans to involve approximately 2.5 lakh ex-servicemen in addition to existing school sports and youth organizations.
