1993 Mumbai blasts convict Rubina Memon released on parole

Mumbai: Rubina Memon, a life convict in the 1993 Mumbai blasts, was released on Wednesday from the Pune’s Yerawada Jail on six days parole.She will be stepping out of jail after 13 years as the Bombay High Court granted her parole on the ground of her daughter’s marriage, her Lawyer Farhana Shah said here.
While pronouncing the order on December 31, a vacation bench of Justices S S Shinde and Abhay Ahuja observed, “Considering the aforesaid circumstances and keeping in mind the human rights of the daughter, we are inclined to entertain the petition.”The lawyer further said that his client had to approach the High Court as the jail authorities did not decide on her parole application.
 
After noting the conduct of Memon in prison, the Court granted her parole starting from January 6-11 and asked her to deposit Rs 1 lakh with the police headquarters in Pune, he apprised.(UNI)
