Mysterious explosion reported 12 km from PM Modi’s rally venue in Jammu

Jammu: A mysterious explosion was reported in village Laliyan of Bishnah in a field, some 12 kilometres away from the venue where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to address a public rally in village Palli on Sunday in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir.
"A powerful sound was heard near Village Laliyan during wee hours at around 4:25 following which panic gripped the residents," sources said.
They added that police party with other security agencies rushed to the spot to investigate the matter. The mysterious explosion took place around 12 kilometres away from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's public rally venue.
"The blast took place in an open field," police sources said. They said that a suspected blast was reported by villagers in open agricultural land in Laliyan village, Bishnah, Jammu.
"It is suspected that a lightning strike or a meteorite hit the ground. Investigation is underway," they said adding that the police teams are on the spot to ascertain the facts.
On Friday morning, two militants of Jaish-e-Mohammad outfit was killed while one CISF ASI attained martyrdom and 11 security personnel sustained injuries in an encounter at Sunjuwan in Jammu ahead of Prime Minister's public rally. (UNI)
