New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday extended the nationwide lockdown till May 3.
In his address to the nation, the Prime Minister, however, said that a decision to review guidelines will be taken on April 20 for areas which do not record an increase in hotspots. Restrictions in these areas could be relaxed keeping in view interests of daily wagers.
“Most of the chief ministers have favoured an extension of the lockdown. A large number of people have also expressed their views. So, it has been decided to further extend it till May 3,” Mr Modi said.
The detailed guidelines for the lockdown will be announced on Wednesday. There will be a strict enforcement of it till April 20.
On April 20, there will be a review of the guidelines taking into account the measures taken for enforcement in various areas.
In areas which do not record an increase in the hotspots, a relaxation can be made in the guidelines keeping in view interests of people from the underprivileged sections, including the daily wage labourers. (UNI)
