Thiruvananthapuram: The issue of the removal of innerwear of a girl before entering the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) examination centre in Kerala will be raised in Lok Sabha, Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) leader NK Premachandran, representing Kollam Lok Sabha constituency, said on Tuesday.
Talking to UNI, the MP on whose constituency the incident was reported, said he had given a notice for an adjournment motion on the disgusting incident of the removal of innerwear of the girl before entering the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) examination centre at Ayoor in Kollam.
The shocking incident has put a blot in the prominent status of women in the State.
"The incident of forcing girl students to remove innerwear before entering the examination hall during the NEET examination in Ayur Marthoma College, Kollam, is highly deplorable and a high-level independent enquiry is required," he said
On Monday, Kerala Health Minister Veena George condemned the incident and said a detailed probe is being conducted on the basis of the complaint filed before the Kottatakkara Police by the girl's father.
The father complained that the girl was asked to remove her underwear before entering the exam hall.
Her father alleged that several girls experienced such harassment before sitting for the exam. They were asked to dump their innerwear in a store room there, he claimed.
The hook of inners were detected by the metal detector, so they were asked to remove their innerwear, he said.
Earlier, State Higher Education Minister Dr R Bindu said the issue will be raised with the Centre to put an end to such harassments in connection with the NEET Examination in the country.
However, the college authorities who denied the allegations clarified that they were just following the strict guidelines in connection with the exam. (UNI)
