New Delhi: Mukesh Kumar Singh, one  of the death row convicts in the December 16, 2012 gangrape and murder  case of a 23-year-old paramedic student, on Monday pleaded to the Supreme Court, to list  urgently his plea against the rejection of the mercy petition by the  President.

Appearing for Mukesh, lawyer Vrinda Grover pleaded before the Chief  Justice Court, headed by CJI S A Bobde, that the matter be  listed urgently, as her counsel's execution was scheduled for  February 1.

The apex court asked the  lawyer to approach the SC Registry for listing the matter. "If somebody is going to be executed on February 1, it is top priority," the CJI said. The Court further asked the lawyer for Mukesh to get a date of hearing from the Mentioning Officer in theSupreme Court.

Mukesh had appealed to the top court of the country, against the rejection of his mercy plea by the President. In  another development, a Delhi court reserved order on the plea of a  convict's father, challenging order on application questioning the  credibility of sole witness.

As per the Delhi court order, Mukesh is going to be executed on February 1. Besides  Mukesh, the court also had ordered other three convicts -- Akshay Kumar  Singh, Pawan Kumar Gupta and Vinay Kumar Sharma -- to be executed on the  same day for their heinous crime of gangrape and murder of a 23-year-old physiotherapist in South Delhi on December 16, 2012.
