New Delhi: Hitting out at the Centre over the arrest of Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Tuesday that the case against Jain is "completely fake".

Aam Aadmi Party national convener also said that he has "personally studied" the case and found it "politically motivated".

I have studied the case against Satyendar Jain. It is completely fake and he is intentionally being implicated for political reasons. We have faith in the judiciary. He (Jain) is following the path of truth, and he will come out clean," the CM told reporters during an inspection of a road development programme of his government.

Kejriwal also called his party "staunchly honest" and asserted that they don't indulge in or tolerate any corruption, referring to the recent sacking of Punjab Health Minister Vijay Singla from the state cabinet over corruption charges.

"You saw in Punjab there was an audio recording of a state minister that no probe agency or opposition party had any idea about. We could have suppressed it if we wanted but we initiated action against him on our own and got him arrested," Kejriwal said.

The Senior AAP leader was arrested today by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday evening under the sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in a case connected to hawala transactions related to a Kolkata-based company

His arrest comes a month after the financial probe agency had attached properties worth Rs 4.81 crore of the family and companies "beneficially owned and controlled" by Jain in connection with a money-laundering probe.

The Delhi Minister and his family have been alleged for setting up four shell firms - companies with no real business - to launder Rs 11.78 crore in 2011-12 and Rs 4.63 crore in 2015-16.

The ED had also questioned the AAP MLA from Shakur Basti in 2018 in connection with the case. (UNI)
