Petrol prices surge again, Diesel rates drop by 6 paise

New Delhi:Petrol prices in the National Capital again surged to touch Rs 101.19 per litre on Monday, while the diesel rates dropped after nearly three months.
According to the Indian Oil Corporation, while the petrol prices in Delhi was hiked by 28 paise to settle at Rs 101.19 per litre, diesel rates fell by 6 paise to Rs 89.72 per litre for the first time since April 15.
 
After today's hike, petrol in Mumbai is being sold at Rs 107.20 per litre --an increase of 27 paise--while diesel rates were down by 17 paise to Rs 97.29 per litre.
 
It was during the West Bengal elections, on April 15 that the fuel prices were reduced for the last time in the country. After that, the prices have either surged or remained stable for 87 days.
 
Petrol became costlier by Rs 8.41 and diesel by Rs 8.45 in May and June in Delhi. So far in July, the price of petrol has increased by Rs 2.38 and that of diesel by 56 paise per litre.
 
In Chennai, petrol became costlier by 25 paise while diesel fell by 15 paise with the rates settling at 101.92 per litre and Rs 94.24 per litre respectively.
 
Petrol prices in Kolkata increased by 34 paise to Rs 101.35. Diesel prices fell by 16 paise to Rs 92.81 per litre.

Congress hold dharnas protesting against  hike in  Petrol, LPG prices in Telangana
Protesting against the hike in Petrol and LPG prices , Congress party held dharnas across the state on Monday.
 
In Hyderabad, the Congress leaders led by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Working President Anjan Kumar Yadav held a dharna at Indira Park.
 
Earlier, Mr Yadav came on a bullock cart to the dharna chowk protesting against the price rise of Petrol and LPG.
 
He expressed anguish over the hike in Petrol and LPG prices.
 
Meanwhile, Police intervened and took them into custody, including Congress women wing presidentSunitha Rao, for not taking permission to hold dharna and shifted them to Begumpet Police station.(UNI)
