PM Modi pays homage to Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday paid homage to the Father of the nation - Mahatma Gandhi - on his death anniversary.
“I bow down in tributes to Father of the nation - Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary. Bapu’s personality, ideology and principles will always inspire all to make a prosperous India,” the Prime Minister tweeted in Hindi.
Born on October 2, 1869, Gandhiji fell to assassin’s bullets on January 30, 1948 in Delhi.
Mahatma Gandhi led Indian freedom struggle with his unique non-violent resistance and the much cherished spirit continues to inspire civil rights and liberty movements across the world.
In another missive, Mr Modi extended good wishes to the people on the occasion of Basant Panchami and hoped that Goddess Saraswati should impart knowledge to the people.
The Prime Minister also extended birthday greetings to BJP leader and his ministerial colleague Prakash Javadekar and wrote: “He is widely admired for his down-to-earth and affable nature. Be it in the party organisation or as a Union Minister, he (Javadekar) has undertaken any responsibility assigned to him with dedication. Praying for his long life”. (UNI)
