President, VP greet people on Buddha Purnima

New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind and Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday greeted people on the occasion of Buddha Purnima, the birth anniversary of Gautam Buddha.
President Kovind tweeted, 'The teachings of Lord Buddha show us the path of liberation from suffering. Let us follow the path of wisdom, compassion & service shown by the Buddha and get rid of COVID-19 through our collective resolve & concerted efforts.'
 
Mr Naidu tweeted, 'Lord Buddha's eternal message of peace, brotherhood & compassion continues to inspire humanity across the globe. On this occasion, let us commit ourselves to the path of compassion & tolerance shown by Lord Buddha.'
 
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also extended his greeting.He tweeted, 'Greetings on the auspicious occasion of #BuddhaPurnima. Gautam Buddha’s teachings of compassion, tolerance and social justice continue to guide us.'
 
PK Dhumal, Anurag Thakur greet people on Buddha Purnima
 
Former HP Chief Minister PK Dhumal and Union Minister of state for Finance and Corporate affairs Anurag Thakur on Wednesday extended greetings to the people on occasion of Buddha Purnima.
 
In separate messages, they said that the teachings of Lord Buddha were still relevant and the path shown by him should be followed by all.
 
It's worth mentioning here that lakhs of Buddha followers, especially Tibetans live in the state of Himachal Pradesh and are working for the welfare and well-being of the state.
 
Maha CM, Deputy CM wish people on Buddha Purnima
 
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Wednesday wished people on the occasion of Buddha Purnima.
 
In his message, Mr Thackeray stated that Tathagata Gautam Buddha's message of peace, wisdom and compassion is the guide for the world today. It is the life of Lord Buddha that gives us the direction to overcome challenges. His message of wisdom, modesty and compassion is more relevant today, the CM added.
 
While Mr Pawar in his message stated that Lord Tathagata Gautama Buddha shows man the way to an ideal life. The thoughts of kindness, forgiveness, peace, sacrifice, service and dedication given by him include the welfare of mankind and the whole universe.
 
The thoughts of Gautam Buddha will continue to illuminate human life forever, he added.Lord Buddha worked for the removal of sorrow, ignorance, injustice and ego in the society. He conveyed the message of non-violence, compassion and compassion to all mankind, Mr Pawar said in his message.(UNI)
