SC to hear ISRO espionage case against scientist Nambi Narayanan next week

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday said it would hear next week the 1994 espionage case involving Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) scientist Nambi Narayanan.
The Centre on Monday filed an impleadment application in the top court to open the sealed copy of the report on the illegal arrest of former ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan and take action against the errant delinquent police officials who allegedly attempted to frame him.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta sought an immediate hearing before the bench of Chief Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde, also comprising Justice AS Bopanna and Justice V Ramasubramaniam but the court set the date for hearing next week.
The apex court had on September 14, 2018 appointed the three-member panel, headed by its former judge Justice (retd) D K Jain in the 1994 espionage case relating to the ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan.
The SC has also directed the Kerala government to cough up Rs 50 lakh compensation for compelling Narayanan to undergo “immense humiliation”. (UNI)
