Lucknow: In a shocking incident a 16-year-old boy allegedly shot his mother dead on being scolded for playing online game PUBG in the Uttar Pradesh capital here, police said here on Wednesday.
According to the investigators, not only did the boy kill the parent but also hid her body in the east Lucknow house for three days and even threatened his nine-year-old sibling to remain silent warning of dire consequences.
The teenager only informed of his mother's demise to his dad, when it became impossible to hide the truth any longer. And that too when he did, he spun a story around an electrician, who frequented the house in the absence of the father.
On Tuesday evening as stench started emanating from the house, the teen finally revealed his mother's death.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) East Kasim Abadi said that on Tuesday night the PGI police received information that one Sadhana Singh had been shot dead.
"The police along with a forensic team reached the spot and launched an investigation after which it was revealed that Sadhana's 16-year-old son had shot his mother dead.
"Preliminary investigation revealed that the boy is addicted to PUBG and his mother used to stop him from doing so. Perturbed with this the boy shot her dead. He committed the crime with the licenced pistol of his father."
The father is posted in West Bengal. In his absence it was just three members at the house. When neighbours did not see the mother for a day or two, they had asked the children, but the teen made an excuse.
The ADCP said that Sadhana Singh was shot dead on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday around 3 am.
"Initially the boy said that an electrician, who used to visit the house, committed the crime, but when quizzed further it turned out to be a fake story cooked up by the boy. The boy has been detained and further legal action is being taken," he said.
Police sources said that Sadhana's husband is a Junior Commissioned Officer in the Army and is currently posted in Asansol.
"The boy after killing his mother threatened his sister and told her not to reveal anything to anyone. For two days he used air freshener and deodorants to hide the stench.
On Monday when the stench started emanating he cooked up a story and informed his father that Sadhana had been shot by a person," the police said.
Police sources said that prima facie it is being suspected that the boy used chemicals to dissolve the body as there were burn marks on it. "The forensic team has taken the samples and the picture will become clear once the post mortem report is received."
The sources said that when quizzed the boy said that he was beaten up by his mother after Rs 10,000 went missing from the house, which she later found.
"After the murder, the boy on Sunday locked his sister in a room and went out to play with his friends. He even invited them to his house where they watched television," the police said.
Police sources said that when the neighbours inquired about Sadhana, the boy told them that she had gone to uncle's house as his grandmother was ill. (UNI)
