New Delhi: The battle of nerves on the data breach row between the Congress and the BJP has only turned bitter now with Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani making a 'Chhota Bheem' - a cartoon character -jibe at Congress president Rahul Gandhi."RahulGandhi ji, even ‘Chhota Bheem’ knows that commonly asked permission on Apps don’t tantamount to snooping," I & B Minister Ms Irani tweeted.In another tweet, she wrote: "Now that we're talking tech, would you care to answer @RahulGandhi ji why Congress sends data to Singapore Servers which can be accessed by any Tom, Dick and Analytica?"At the same, BJP's IT cell chief Amit Malviya has joined issue with the country's oldest party and wanted to know why the Congress party's "membership website" is no longer available.
Mr Malviya alleged that the grand old party has shared data with 'friends in Singapore' and even 'Maoists'.Mr Malviya also wrote: "Full marks to INCIndia for stating upfront that they'll give your data to practically anyone - undisclosed vendors, unknown volunteers, even 'groups with similar causes'. In theft of all forms, Congress has never been discreet!"In another missive in the micro blogging site, Mr Malviya wrote: "INC membership website no longer available.
Message you will get “We are incorporating minor changes to the website. Please visit us again in a while to access the INC membership process...” What is the Congress party trying to hide?'
Last week, the Union IT Minister Ravi Shanker Prasad warned against the abuse of technology and cautioned that if required, even Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg could also be summoned.
"Mr Zuckerberg you better note, if any data theft or abuse of data is done by using the Facebook system it shall not be tolerated. We have stringent powers under the Information Technology Act including summoning you in India," Mr Prasad has told mediapersons here. He also linked the Indian National Congress with the imbroglio. Mr Prasad questioned whether Congress party chief Rahul Gandhi had enlisted the services of the company to boost its election campaign in Gujarat and now in Karnataka.
The Congress has dismissed the charges outright Mr Gandhi posted on the micro-blogging site and had alleged that data mined from 'Narendra Modi App' have been shared with companies in the US. (UNI)
