New Delhi:Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal on Friday laid the foundation stone for the new wing at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital. The building with a capacity of 1500 beds is a step towards providing high-quality healthcare amenities in the city. CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal said that with an additional 1500 beds, this building will increase the overall capacity of LNJP hospital to 3800 beds.
He also said that in 2.5 years, LNJP will be one of the biggest hospitals in the country with a modular design and modern medical infrastructure. The CM said that the other governments spend Rs 1-1.5 crore per bed, but we believe in smart spending and effective utilisation of budget; in the past few years we have worked towards improving the living standards of the people of Delhi.
Shri Arvind Kejriwal said that Delhi government has completed projects on time and that has saved cost as well which is then further utilised for the betterment of the city. Adding to this, Delhi Health Minister Shri Satyendar Jain said that keeping in mind the requirements of the citizens, the building will have 3 main departments, a new medical block, new maternity and an advanced paediatric department. The addition of the 1500-bedded block to LNJP Hospital is a fine example of Delhi Model of Health.
Besides CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal, the ceremony witnessed the presence of Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Shri Satyendar Jain, area MLA Shri Shoaib Iqbal, senior doctors and officials of the hospital.

Shri Arvind Kejriwal said, “Today is a remarkable day for Delhi. A state of the art building with cutting edge medical technology block is being added in Delhi’s LNJP hospital. With an additional 1500 beds, this building will increase the overall capacity of LNJP hospital to 3800 beds. In 2.5 years, LNJP will be one of the biggest hospitals in the country with a modular design and modern medical infrastructure."

The CM said, "Delhi, is the national capital and therefore a microcosm of the nation. It should have access to everything world-class. This new wing at LNJP is valued at Rs 462 crores, with per bed costing around Rs 30 lakh. Other governments spend Rs 1-1.5 crore per bed, but we believe in smart spending and effective utilisation of budget. In the last 5 years, it has been of utmost importance that we improve the living standards of the people of Delhi. AAP government has completed projects on time and saved cost as well which is then further utilised for the betterment of the city."

He said, "The pandemic has had a cascading effect on all of us and I salute to all those who have worked hard and put their lives at stake to serve the nation. Shri Arvind Kejriwal said, "The Department of Health and Family Welfare in Delhi has been supreme in improving and providing access to healthcare facilities. Be it 450 plus Mohalla Clinics achieving the unprecedented mark of establishing 3 crore OPDs, and conducting 22 lakhs plus free tests added to this new vision for government hospitals."

CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal said, "In the last 5 years, it has been our goal to reduce the pollution levels in the city and while we have effectively succeeded, it is during the months ahead of winter that Delhi sees pollution from neighbouring states in the form of stubble burning. While we can’t control what happens outside the city, we can definitely try and lower the pollution levels within Delhi. With 25 floors and best health care available under one roof, this will be an inspiration to all.
