New Delhi: Heavy rains lashed the National Capital early Tuesday leading to water logging and traffic snarls in various areas.

The rainfall which began at around 0600 hrs in the morning submerged the roads and created water logging in all the low lying areas.

According to Delhi traffic police, the traffic was affected from Hyatt Regency to R K Puram Sec.-12 near CNG pump, Tamil Sangam Marg towards R K Puram, near Qutab Minar Metro Station towards 100 Foota carriageway, near Central school and Okhla Mandi due to water logging among several other areas.

The traffic coming from Badarpur towards Mehrauli was also diverted towards Mathura Road due to water logging near Prahladpur underpass.

As per India Meteorological Department's (IMD) forecast at 0850 hrs, thunderstorms with light to moderate intensity rain would continue to occur over many places of the entire Delhi, Gurugram, Manesar (Haryana) and adjoining areas during the next two hours.

For today, the weather agency has predicted generally cloudy sky and heavy rain at the isolated places of the city that will be accompanied with gusty winds blowing at a speed of 30-40 KMPH.
