TRAGIC! 5 children, who came to village on summer holidays, drown in irrigation tank in Andhra Pradesh

Kadapa: In a tragic incident, five children were drowned in an irrigation tank at Mallepally village of Brahmamgari Mattam mandal of Kadapa district in AP.

DSP Rajendra Prasad told the media that the deceased children Charan (15), Parthasarthi (12), Harshavardhan (12), Deekshit (12) and Tharun Yadav (12) entered the irrigation tank last night for a bath and drowned.

The parents and relatives searched for the children and finally found their clothes on the bank of the irrigation tank. The police pressed expert swimmers to trace the bodies of the children in the tank. All five bodies were retrieved from the irrigation tank and shifted to the GGH in Proddatur for postmortem.

Poignant scenes were witnessed at the GGH with the grieving parents and relatives of the deceased children. A pall of gloom descended on the Mallepally village with the death of five children.

Relatives of the deceased children told the media that the deceased boys came to the village to spend holidays with their grandparents. Circle Inspector K Ramana Reddy, Sub-inspectors Siva Prasad and Vinod Kumar and district fire officers visited the village and the irrigation tank.

R&B Minister BC Janardhan Reddy expressed shock and grief over the death of five boys who went to the villages to spend summer holidays. He conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved families.

Former Chief Minister and YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed shock and grief over the drowning of five children in an irrigation tank. He asked the government to extend all needed help to the bereaved families.
