Tripura CM Biplab Kumar Deb stokes fresh controversy, says BJP wants to rule Nepal and Sri Lanka

Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb triggered a fresh controversy after revealed that not only in Indian states, BJP has wished to establish a government in neighbouring Nepal and Sri Lanka while addressing a public gathering here at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan last evening.
Mr Deb said, “The incumbent home minister Amit Saha when was BJP national president in a close interaction in presence of several leaders in state guest house here had told us the planning of the party to expand the governance in Nepal and Sri Lanka.”
Appreciating the proposed budget for the next financial year Deb commented, “The budget is a step towards making ‘Atmanirbhar South Asia’. The policies and action of India have able to make Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal self-reliant because Narendra Modi led government wants Saab Ka Sath Saab Ka Vikas (inclusive development for all).”
After the installation of NDA government in 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had convened a meeting of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) including the Prime Minister of Pakistan because India wanted to develop with the neighbours, the gesture he termed as ‘exceptional’, the Chief Minister mentioned.
Talking on poll-bound West Bengal, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, Biplab Kumar Deb said, “The people of West Bengal will say goodbye to Mamata didi, as Modi and Amit Saha have reached Bengal. The flip-flop game of CPM and Congress in Kerala will be over this time because BJP is all set to come into power. The government would not form in Tamil Nadu without BJP. So, lotus will bloom across the country.”
The opposition CPM and Congress demanded immediate action against the Chief Minister for his most undemocratic speech against sovereign countries like Nepal and Sri Lanka and sought an investigation into the claim of Biplab Deb about the planning of union home minister Amit Saha to capture the power of neighbouring countries.
“Had Saha told this to his leader about good neighbours of India and a democratically elected chief minister revealed it in public, it exposes the mindset of Narendra Modi government. This will not only be interference into internal politics of other countries, but it will also harm India’s foreign policy,” said veteran communist leader and former minister Badal Chowdhury.
Reacting sharply to the statement veteran Congress leader and Tripura Pradesh congress committee Vice President Tapas Dey said, “Such statement from a chief minister is unfortunate and it demands due enquiry into the claim of Biplab Deb and immediate action against him to keep peaceful relation with neighbouring countries.” (UNI)
