Two bombs recovered from Mahabodhi premises, security on high alert

Gaya: Security has been beefed up in and around Mahabodhi Temple following recovery of two bombs last night inside the temple premises, close to Tibetan monastery where Tibetan religious leader Dalai Lama is staying.
Police said here today that two bombs were recovered from the gate number-4 of Mahabodhi Temple when an abandoned bag carrying them was scanned. Sources said that the bag was scanned after a Bihar Military Police Havildar Upendra Prasad Rai raised an alarm when the bag was found abandoned at the gate in a suspicious condition.
The abandoned bag was detected when somebody was sweeping near gate number 4 of Mahabodhi Temple, sources added. The bomb disposal squads of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) defused both bombs.
Soon after the recovery of bombs from the temple premises, the entire area was searched thoroughly by the security personnel. The entire police machinery has also been put on maximum alert. Preliminary reports said that the bombs were stuffed with high intensity explosives like Ammonium Nitrate and also assembled with electric wires.Deputy Inspector General of Police (Magadh range) Vinay Kumar and Gaya Police Superintendent Garima Malik made an on the spot inquiry after the recovery of bombs from the temple premises.
The security has also been beefed up at the place where the Dalai Lama is staying.As it is, serial bomb blasts had taken premises, inside Mahabodhi Temple premises and other places of religious importance at Bodh Gaya on July 7, 2013.The involvement of terror group Indian Mujahideen was found in the attack during the investigation. The investigation of the incident was handed over to National Investigation later.(UNI)
