UP govt allows Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi to visit Lakhimpur Kheri

Lakhimpur Kheri/Lucknow: Bowing to political pressure, Uttar Pradesh government has given permission to Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and three other people to visit Lakhimpur Kheri.
The decision was taken after chief minister Yogi Adityanath held a meeting with the officials and assessed the prevailing situation on Wednesday morning.
While Priyanka has been released from police custody in Sitapur, Rahul Gandhi reached Lucknow airport along with some senior Congress leaders including CMs of Punjab and Chhattisgarh.
UP government has also allowed all political parties, in a group of not more than five members, to visit Lakhimpur.
State home department officials here confirmed that the state government has given permission to Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and three other people to visit Lakhimpur Kheri.
Priyanka Gandhi, who was released from police custody in Sitapur has also been communicated about the decision. She will join Rahul Gandhi, Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel and Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi to go to Lakhimpur later in the day.
Meanwhile, chaos prevailed at the Lucknow airport when police stopped hundred of Congress supporters who had assembled there to welcome Rahul Gandhi and other leaders. (UNI)
